I started working in the NICU and pediatric nursing setting nearly twenty years ago. After the pandemic hit and I witnessed just how damaging a medical system based on profit and politics can be to the health of a community, I decided it was time to make my exit from hospital nursing. I will complete a Doctorate in pediatric nursing/primary care by the end of 2024 and hopefully be working as a pediatric primary care nurse practitioner by the start of 2025. Because I am also apparently a glutton for punishment, I decided to fuel my love for non-scholastic writing while attending grad school; my first peer-reviewed article was published as the cover story for the American Nurses Association in March of 2024. I then performed my first peer review for the American Nurses Association in May 2024. I’m now working on establishing myself as a medical writer, one who can assist families in understanding illness prevention and how to navigate the complex American healthcare system. I spent years as a nurse case manager for both inpatient hospital and Arizona state medicaid systems, and desire to share my knowledge so that parents and guardians can successfully obtain the medical assistance that children need and deserve.
